Who we serve
At JFC, we proudly serve families from every corner of Montgomery County, embracing the rich diversity of our community. Our doors are open to everyone—whether you’re a nurse, teacher, grocery store worker, student, senior, or someone experiencing homelessness. We welcome newborns, centenarians, and everyone in between, regardless of race, religion, or background.
Among those we serve are individuals who have called this community home for generations, as well as refugees building a new life in our shared neighborhood. What unites us all is the universal need for access to nutritious food, and at JFC, we believe everyone deserves the dignity of choice and the opportunity to nourish themselves and their families.
We are honored to provide support to our neighbors in need, ensuring that every person—regardless of their circumstances—can build a healthy, fulfilling life. Together, we are stronger, and at the JFC Food Cupboard, everyone is welcomed with open arms.
That all said…
While we firmly believe that everyone deserves access to healthy, nutritious food, the families who register with the JFC Food Cupboard have identified a specific need for support based on their household income. These families meet the income criteria detailed below, ensuring that we can provide assistance to those most in need in our community. Our goal is to help alleviate food insecurity and promote well-being for every household we serve.
Last year, nearly 800 different families relied on the JFC Food Cupboard for assistance. Each of these families earned less than the designated income threshold for their household size.
For example, a family of four that received our food supplement had a total household income of less than $58,000 per year. These figures highlight the financial hardships faced by many of our neighbors, underscoring the critical role the Food Cupboard plays in supporting families who are striving to make ends meet.
