Welcome to the Jenkintown Food Cupboard's expanded mission—reaching further into Montgomery County to nourish families where they are at. Our journey to tackle food insecurity is evolving, and we are thrilled to share our latest endeavor as a regional food bank, empowering communities with greater access to healthy, fresh, and essential food items.
Our Vision: The heart of our new food banking initiative - The Montgomery County Food Project - lies in the distribution of an additional wholesome provisions to pantries across the county. In 2024, our food banking distributions served nearly 70 different pantries and helped distribute 2 millions of pounds into our county’s food insecurity system.
Why a Food Bank? Hunger knows no ZIP code. Transforming into a food bank allows us to consolidate resources, collaborate with local partners, and foster a collective resilience against hunger by allowing smaller pantries to access the large scale resources needed to effectively combat food insecurity.
Our Impact: Picture the impact of millions of pounds of fresh produce, dairy, proteins, and essentials reaching pantries in every corner of Montgomery County. In partnering with Garden of Health and Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel, the Jenkintown Food Cupboard has been able to help distribute 2 million pounds into the Montgomery County food economy last year, distributing from hub locations in North Wales and Elkins Park. With partners like ours, we can make our most ambitious visions become actions!
These partnerships have allowed for us to begin our food access contribution immediately as we work toward having additional warehousing spaces to serve Montgomery County.
