The Jenkintown Food Cupboard is proud to offer our support and resources to fight hunger in off-site locations throughout Montgomery County! In order to feed families in need who may have accessibility problems with our main location, we work diligently to support the missions of other organizations through our community outreach program. Learn about how we support Ukrainian refugee outreach with the Sister’s of St. Basil’s below!

St. Basil’s Ministry started 2.5 years ago, distributing food out of the back of a van that had been donated by some local resources. Now our refugee outreach program has grown, using Ukrainian volunteers to pack over 100 bags of food for other refugee families! With help from the community, St. Basil’s has grown it’s mission to adapt to the many needs of Ukrainian refugees in our area!

Even children enjoy helping at the pantry! Other children craft and play with toys or eagerly await St. Basil’s St. Nicholas Candy giveaway each december. Over 300 bags of candy were given to all the children of St. Basil’s!

With the help of volunteers from Martin Saints Classical High School and from Manor College, St. Basil’s mission has grown far beyond serving food at their Jenkintown location. Some volunteers distribute 250 PB&J sandwiches amongst other food to the homeless in Kensington each week, while others help Ukrainian families to receive the essentials they need beyond food such as coats, clothing, back packs, beds, and furniture!

The JFC recognizes that the future of growing our impact throughout the community is by engaging and partnering with our Community Outreach Program. Whether we partner with organizations to fight hunger amongst Ukrainian refugees, university students or senior citizens, the Cupboard will continue to expand access to food resources throughout our entire county. Now more than ever the JFC needs your help in supporting other missions and reaching further across our county. To join our cause in growing our community outreach, consider making a donation below!
