Who we are:

Jenkintown Food Cupboard is a community-focused food insecurity organization, working to create accessible, stigma-free spaces for our neighbors to receive the food and nutritional resources they need and deserve.

Ending Hunger in Our Community

The last two years of this pandemic has further exposed what we already knew — hunger does not discriminate. During a catalyst year in 2020, the pandemic shutdowns and effects on unemployment further widened food insecurity gaps around the entire nation including especially heavy effects in the Montgomery County region. After a variety of trials and errors paired with strong support from our community and partners, the Jenkintown Food Cupboard has been able to successfully adapt our programs to fit the public health needs of our volunteers and patrons while still managing to offer the dignity of patron choice while shopping at our pantry. With an increase in distribution of meats, dairy, and fresh produce, -the Cupboard constantly strives to make nutritionally viable, fresh food available to our community via our full choice model.

But not without your help!

Jenkintown Food Cupboard is now distributing needed food to about 170 Montgomery County families each week, providing free groceries in a drive through model. Using a full choice distribution model, patrons and volunteers work together to get each family not just the food they need but rather the specific groceries they want. Our offerings reach beyond the typical canned food of a community pantry and include fresh produce, dairy, eggs, bread, and a wide variety of meats.
